If there's one thing humans are good at, it's gossip. If there's something going on (or even if there isn't), you can guarantee that someone will talk, and word will spread like wildfire.
According to the rumors, a cult of some kind was trying to summon something evil. They were doing so in the park, in the dark, with candles and fires and blood. Such occult things frighten those who know too well what lies beyond the gates, and who know that they cannot defend themselves from it.
This was why Kitty was in the park this evening, hiding among the leaves in the ageless tree. If there was something going on, she wanted to know, and to put a stop to it before it got out of hand.
At around two A.M., people started to gather. A lot of people. In robes, with candles, and white buckets that reeked of blood.
Well, crap.
The members of the cult painted blood over grass, designing a very large and very intricate summoning circle, with fetishes and objects that meant little by themselves, but had entirely different connotations placed in that circle, arranged in the ways that they were arranged. As the ritual began, she heard whispers in a foreign tongue. The only thing of note that she was able to understand was 'Temen-Ni-Gru.'
Double crap.
A whisper in her mind told her that she should seek out the young man that had tried to abduct her charge a few nights prior. Her fur bristled, and she had to resist the urge to growl, as she frantically scanned to find a way to stop whatever it was without giving away her location.
Golem began to explain to her why he had suggested it. That man was Syrissin, son of Cerberus, child of the Temen Ni Gru. If anyone knew what it was these people were trying to do, he would know. She would need his help, Golem urged. Whatever they were trying to summon, it was large, that he knew she knew that, that he could feel the malice just as well as she.
Silently grumbling to herself, she ceded to the wise old turtle's point of view. As she pulled out her cell phone to take a picture, lightning flashed across the sky. Kitty snapped a picture as the wind kicked up, and with a gust of force, knocked some of the fetishes out of place. Rain began to pour from the sky - much to the dismay of the cult below. A branch fell from the ancient tree, disrupting the circle and causing the incantation to backlash violently on those who had been chanting.
Kitty used this moment to escape. Teleporting a small distance from the park, the felid called up some of her memories from the other night. She attempted to track Syrissin down, hoping that he would be willing to cooperate in stopping whatever this was.
He did say he owed her a favor, after all.

"What a week," Syrissin sighed to himself running a dexterous hand through his dual colored hair. A failed kidnapping was bad enough but the fact that his former employer sent several assassins after him, while not all that threatening and easily taken care of, had made life a little bit more difficult. With the many bodies as the end result due to his growing annoyance, police and devil hunters alike were now aware of him. Not that the police could hinder him. After decimating the annoying crime lord and his forces it left a power vacuum in the criminal underworld that have left the police busy. It was the devil hunters he needed to be wary of.
After finding a good spot he removed his top and sat cross-legged and began to breathe, his eyes closed and listened to the drumming of his heart, as he began to meditate.

About the time he settled in, Kitty stopped in front of him, drenched in water and looking something between annoyed and alarmed.
"Syrissin?" The name seemed almost like a foreign language on her tongue in between panting breaths. The woman caught her breath after a short time, watching him for a reaction.
"A little turtle told me that I might need your help."

Syrissin's eyebrow began twitching as he realized who was talking to him and her timing. Taking a deep breath and cracking an eye open curiously. "Oh and what on earth could convince the Golem that you would need my assistance?" Syrissin's voice was filled with annoyance. All he wanted do was meditation.

Kitty wasted no time in showing him the phone picture of the ritual, despite being taken aback by the man's knowledge of Golem. From the vantage point of the tree and beneath the strike of the lightning, it was easy to see the entire circle as painted in the grass, with candles, idols, and fetishes set up.
"He said that you would be most likely to know what or who these people are trying to summon. The malice from the circle alone is enough to make my skin crawl, let alone when they start chanting...."
The felid suppressed a shiver.
"I couldn't understand anything other than 'Temen-Ni-Gru.' Their language is foreign to me."
She stood there, watching him cautiously, still holding the phone for him to see.

A stillness entered Syrissin as he saw the runes and his mind processed everything he was seeing. Silence permeated the devil as he realized exactly what the idiots were doing. "Well... Shit. They are attempting to summon several high level devils in order to reopen Temen-Ni-Gru... How the hell they have gathered the man power knowledge and resources to do so is not only staggering but also worrisome." Syrissin said as he eyed the circle. It's a contract circle. The knowledge of those alone is exceptionally rare. I believe we are looking at the beginning of something big.

"Should we put an end to it before it begins? They are by the ancient tree."
She looked up at him, putting her phone in her pocket.
"My first instinct tells me to stop it and ask questions later, but are they the type to answer questions?"

"Not likely. They wouldn't know anyway. Humans aren't usually given a lot information. Expendable but useful peons," Syrissin growled out. Syrissin stood ready to kill. "Let's go." Syrissin indicated he will follow, eyes simmering.

Kitty led Syrissin to the group, who were scrambling around in the weather to resume their ritual. Violent winds seemed to rip things from their hands as soon as they had retrieved them. The leader - apparent now, as he was barking orders and threats - looked as though he might have an aneurysm from the apparent lack of competency of his subordinates.
"We're going to have to insist that you stop what you're doing," the feline yelled over the wind and rain. The man spun, drew a sacrificial dagger, and pointed it at her; she responded with a sigh. "I wouldn't do that if I were you..."
He rushed at her, blade first. She adjusted her pose, grabbing his forward wrist. She twisted it slightly, causing him to drop the blade, and then used his own momentum to send him to the ground with enough force to knock the wind out of him. The others looked toward the two, drawing nearer with guarded stances, daggers and dirks drawn.

The wind picked up as Syrissin tried to get a lock on exactly what they were trying to summon, the wind kicking up the dust as he disarmed and rendered them unconscious one by one. Something wasn't adding up. Finally the wind died enough for him to read the last of the runes and swore as he saw a grin form on one of the cultists faces. A massive pulse of demonic energy erupted from a different location several hundred yards away. A decoy. These cultists knew that she was watching for them and planned accordingly.

Shortly after the impulse had been felt, screams echoed from not far off in the darkness, and the scent of fresh blood, in a large amount, filled the air.
Kitty focused on the screams. Just before she would have started to run, her gaze shifted down, and she dodged out of the way of an earth-based attack that sent dirt, chunks of grass, and debris in all directions. A long haired man, dressed in black, holding a death scythe stood, peering out from beneath his hair at the two.
"The Dark Lady sends her regardssss," he hissed.
Another over-the-shoulder glance, and Kitty dodged out of the way of a rather large gout of flames, which all but vaporized a cultist. A female in black, with curly, red locks, holding a fiery sword, stood upon thin air.
"But she must decline the rather abrupt summonssss," she hissed.
"...and demands your lives in return."
The pair eyed Kitty and Syrissin.
Triple crap.

"Aren't we the rude ones. Either you left the courts or your mistress never taught you manners...," Syrissin snarled slightly. The twins looked surprised at the response.
"What ever do you mean manners?" the male inquired. To their irritation Syrissin snorted.
"Powerful as you two are I know you both are not unaware. Before combat between demons they introduce themselves," Syrissin smirked and bowed. "Syrissin Soncerberos, Legacy of Temen-Ni-Gru, Son of Nikalaitas and Cerberus." The two looked surprised and chuckled.
"Not many remember the ways before Mundus' fall, it's refreshing. I am Belegoth, brother of Nevan," the male bowed in return.
"And I am Nylienth, sister of Nevan," the female responded.
'Ahhhh shit. It had to be family,' Syrissin mentally groaned. Syrissin tried to wrack his brain about anything his Aunt told him about her siblings. Summoning Kusanagi, Syrissin readied himself. "Kitty you get Belegoth. Nylienth is mine," Syrissin said calmly.

Kitty nodded, turning to Belegoth. He sneered, spinning his scythe before stopping it to bear upon the feline. Sure watched him carefully.
"I am Kitty, last daughter of the Firalis clan of hunters."
Belegoth's sneer faded into am unpleasant frown.
"I always knew that fool Crymaerix couldn't get the job done properly. I'll have to finish it for him." He attacked again with earth, but Kitty moved around it. At the mention of her old nemesis, she seemed to turn into a slightly different person. Her eyes burned with ferocity, and she went for her dual Smith and Wesson revolvers. They roared with thunderous fury as she fired both fifty caliber and energy rounds at Belegoth from both guns.
Surprised, the demon was barely able to keep up with deflecting the shots as Kitty bore down ever closer. She made him stumble once or twice, during which she drew Xyrne and Maeryth. Even faster did she assault him with her blades, which sang with the same fury she fought with. He received a few shallow cuts in the midst of trying to deflect her blades.
"You want to know why that fool hasn't been heard from, Belegoth?" Kitty snarled. "I took his soul."
Belegoth leapt back, starting at her with a mix of disgust and wonder. Kitty stood in a defensive dual wield stance, waiting for him to go on the offensive.

Slash. Parry. Block. Counterstrike. The movements were fluid and without thought. Every subtle shift of muscle was instinctive as Syrissin studied her attack patterns. His opponent however was rather annoying. "Wow you're good nephew! And such a looker," Nylienth purred into his ear at a particularly close lock between the two. In response to her taunt Syrissin leaned in and slammed his lips into hers, stunning her before roundhouse kicking her hard enough in the stomach to fold her. Unable to breathe her eyes went blank being rendered unconscious the succubus never felt the blade remove her head from her body nor the pillar of black fire incinerate her body.

Belegoth made the ground in front of Kitty erupt, in an attempt to throw dirt into her eyes. The feline ducked her head and charged through the upheaval, using the underhanded tactic as a smoke screen. Her blades clashed with Belegoth's scythe, sending it away in pieces.
The demon staggered back from the sheer power and unexpected move of the feline. Kitty launched herself forward again, one blade piercing Belegoth's heart, the other piercing his neck. She forced him to the ground and pinned him there with a snarl, driving the blades deeper.
The feline crouched there, glaring into his eyes as ice crept down the blades. From the inside out, Belegoth was frozen solid. With a flick of her wrists, energy flowed into him. She leapt back as he exploded into a billion little frozen pieces.
After a moment, Kitty stood, ice retreating enough for her to sheath her blades. She glanced over to Syrissin, beginning to make her way over to him.
