The contract had been a little out of the ordinary, but it was a start nonetheless. A rich girl in need of a bodyguard during an evening gala. The place, the Venetian Rose, was nice. The paycheck was even nicer. If the family liked her work, they might even keep her on retainer.
Something told Kitty, however, that there was more to the story, just by the reward alone. The family had been rather tight-lipped about everything, and seemed a little too eager to mention the potential of return business... meaning that the night was likely going to be more lively than a bunch of stuck up Richie Riches politely chit-chatting over glasses of bubbly champagne and hors d'oeuvres.
In a completely human form of her normal self, Kitty wore an elegant black dress with a considerable slit up the legs, complementing her form quite nicely when standing in even the low heels she wore with it. Her hair, a strawberry blonde now, was in an up-do and out of the way. She appeared to be unarmed, wearing only jewelry - her silver necklace with deep blue pendant, and an intricate turtle's head on either side, mouth opened toward the pendant and diminishing into the chain. Similar silver slave bracelet styled chain jewelry adorned her wrists, weaving up and under the long sleeves of the dress. Gemstones sat upon her wrists, both on the top of her hands and resting above the veins on the opposite side. Other than some of her mannerisms, it would be difficult to determine that she was not part of this crowd.
Emerald eyes kept a vigilant watch, alert to any signs of trouble as she sat at a table near her charge.

Syrissin eyed the crowd calmly as he scoped out the location of his target. Kidnappings weren't exactly his forte. He was more of a combat oriented person. Violet eyes scanned the crowd before spotting something he immediately deemed as interesting. A strawberry blonde, her outfit wasn't out of place but he could tell an outfit meant to kickass and look great in it when he saw one. The bodyguard.
'Well this won't be dull,' though the young demon. He also spotted his target. Wealthy, pretty but not his taste. 'Can't win it all it seems,' the young man signed. Now there are two different ways to kidnap someone. The subtle route through planning and getting the target alone, which in the case of the target several attempts of this sort had been attempted. The second was brazen loud and in public, and after so many failed attempts his employers told him to send a message. With a subtle usage of Syrissin's warehouse of magicks he summoned his pistol and fired at the chandelier above the target. Time to test the reactions of the bodyguards

A whisper in her mind warned her of the weapon a second before it fired. She had very little time to react, but Kitty managed to dive toward her charge and get her out of harm's way before the chandelier hit the table. Outrage and confusion, followed by realization and fear, washed over the girl's face in what seemed to be slow motion.
Another whisper bought her back to real time. Demonic magic had been cast nearby, by one that was no slouch. Escape was wise, was recommended. Fighting here would be messy. Extremely messy, considering the chaos that was unfolding after the gunshot.
Wasting no time, the woman stood and all but hefted the girl to her feet, ushering her toward the door. She kept an almost deathly grip upon the one she was trying to protect, so that she would not be trampled in the crowd.

Summoning a wall of ice between his target and the exit. A appeared in front of the body guard and released enough intent to make the civilians pass out. "Well bodyguard-chan you reacted well but I am going to ask you to put her down and hand her to me." His tone was pleasant as he tried to get a read on her.

Kitty frowned slightly, although was unphased by that which made the other humans nearby pass out, including her charge. "I'm sorry, but I can't do that." Golem, whispering into her mind, advised her to drop the facade of being human, so that she would stand a chance.
She didn't hesitate, pulling the chopstick-pins out of her hair to allow it to fall freely. Her hair began to shift colors to more of a dark golden hue, her eyes took on a fire otherwise absent in her suppressed form, and slight scar-like stripes showed themselves on her face, shoulders, and what was visible of her legs through her dress.
An icy mist began to form around her necklace, but past that, she remained calm and steady, watching the man before her.

Syrissin's eyes widened slightly as he saw the transition. "Hmmm how about a deal. We fight. You win you leave with her and I will owe you a favor? I won same thing?" Syrissin said as he summoned Kusanagi, a pale miasma floating off of the blade.

Kitty smirked slightly. "I'm not so certain I have a choice, given the circumstance. All right, you have a deal."
Demonic ice flowed over the woman's body, creating an armor stronger than anything man made, yet flexible enough to maneuver in. A pair of blades formed in her hands, curving over her fists. She stood in a balanced guarding stance, watching him carefully with emerald hues afire.

Gone was the smirk upon the would be kidnappers face as his body was enveloped in emerald flame. With a thought the blade extended to give him some reach as he started with a series of rapid slashes. His eyes were cold and focused as his mind began calculating his odds in his current state.

Each slash was met and blocked by one or the other Ulak, very solidly; her blocks were solid, precisely the right strength, and at exactly the right time. Eyes burning as fiercely as the flames that now surrounded him watched him carefully for any pattern to the movement, any opening she could exploit; anything that would give her an advantage. When an opening presented itself, she moved in with the Ulak, suspending the sword with one and slashing with the other.

Syrissin stepped back from the slash with a quirked eyebrow. Faster then the average demon... this won't be good. Closing his eyes and calculated before sending Kusanagi back to it's dimension.. "As anxious as I am to fight you fully. Doing so would risk harming the humans, my target included... So you win." With a flick of his wrist the black ice shattered. "I will be on my way."

Kitty stopped, watching carefully as he explained his reasoning and broke the ice behind him. She inclined her head slightly, a little confused by the man and his ways.
"Very well. As per our agreement, May I have your name, should I need to call on you?"
She still stood on guard, prepared for the comments to be a ruse, a way to put her off guard for a sneak attack. One particular demon she'd fought in the past had been just that conniving.

The fact she didn't relax her guard was a plus in his books. Amethyst orbs gazed into her own with approval and amusement at the confusion on her face. "My title is the Legacy of Temen-Ni-Gru, but my name is Syrissin," the reply wasn't filled with arrogance but did hold a note of pride. Tilting his neck with an audible pop the demon relaxed a bit before hearing sirens.
"Well that's my que. Later Kitten," a small emerald vortex of flame erupted from his body before collapsing within itself and bursting in a green flash and he was gone only the slight smell of brimstone denoting his presence.

Kitty blinked, also hearing the sirens she returned to her suppressed form and Golem's ice retreated. She tended to the unconscious party-goers, explaining to the police, once they arrived, that the demon responsible had tried to kidnap her charge. She fended him off and he left when he heard the sirens.
They insisted on medical staff looking at everyone there, and she sat and waited, remaining by the side of the girl she was trying to protect. She escorted her home, received payment from a grateful family, and was offered a retaining contract with them. She accepted it.
The entire time, she couldn't keep the attacker out of mind. Syrissin. What was his deal, anyway?
