The violet portal opened, as was standard, in the large, open space that made up Kitty's living room. The violet reflected slightly off of the sealed concrete floor as Kitty stepped through. There were plants in the corners, a couch behind the portal, a large and fully detailed map of the entire local area on the wall in front of the couch, and small, yet stylish black end tables against the walls. One of these had a charging mat on it for electronic devices.
The couch matched the end tables in color, and looked like one of those you could fall into and sleep for a week. It looked as though she had once or twice, judging by the black microfiber blanket and the pillow sitting on the arm.
Behind the couch, equidistant from the couch, door, and walls, was a yin/yang carpet. To either side of the carpet were metal stairs, leading up to a catwalk and additional rooms. The doors were heavily reinforced, complete with metal bars across them. The glass was tinted, and appeared to be thicker than standard glass, with wire reinforcement.
Kitty retrieved her phone - thankfully a waterproof model - from her pocket and set it on the charge mat as Syrissin followed her through.
"Welcome to my home away from home," she sighed. "It's a sort of command center and barracks, complete with four beds and baths, a kitchen and dining room, a weapons room, a training room, and a meditation room. Living is segmented off from everything else, but if you need use of those amenities, I can show them to you. Do you want to freshen up?"
She looked to Syrissin for a reply on what he would need.

Cracking his neck Syrissin entered the room his eyes scanning as he took in the room. Relaxing as he realized it was a safe area and not an interrogation, Syrissin nodded in thanks at the generosity given. "I believe I'll hit the shower though I don't have an extra set of clothes. I tend to wander and don't exactly have a place of my own." Syrissin explained. "Is there a way I can get the blood cleaned off of my clothes while I wash?"

She listened intently before replying.
"Yes, actually." Kitty guided him up the stairs. In the room adjacent to the shower was a laundry room and linen closet.
"Everything you need should be in here." She stretched, moving toward the door. "Need anything else?"
She glanced at him over her shoulder.

Syrissin thought about it hard and shrugged. "Thank you." It seemed appropriate enough. "Where did you want to eat after we clean up?"

Kitty nodded before moving back across the house to the other showers. She started the water, putting her bloodied clothes in to wash before stepping into the steamy shower box.
She leaned her hands and forehead against the cool glass, processing the events of the last few hours as the hot water coursed over her, warming her almost-numb limbs.
After she felt warm enough, she began her ritual of cleansing. The scent of rose and chamomile with undertones of cinnamon and sandalwood wafted through the house as she scrubbed herself clean of blood, mud, and muck. Skin and scalp tingly, Kitty exited the shower, wrapping a large, white towel around herself in the fashion of a dress. Throwing her now-clean clothes in the dryer, she entered her room, seeking a fresh set of garments.
Kitty donned a fresh set of clothes, coming down the stairs. She flopped onto the couch, waiting for Syrissin to join her downstairs. Reflexively, she curled up under a blanket that had been folded up on the back of the couch. She rested there, eyes on the ceiling, listening for the telltale signs that Syrissin was about to come downstairs. The normal sounds of a familiar environment lulled her into a sleep-like state of meditation.

Syrissin side as he walked out of the shower. While relaxing he didn't know what to make of the feline. Donning cleaned clothes he returned to see a meditating Kitty.
Nodding to himself the ravenette sat crossing his legs and relaxed his arms palms up arms down and hummed a soft ohm letting the sound resonate from his crown down through his body. He repeated the mantra several times each time his baritone rumbled out, an insignificant imitation of the vibration of the universe. His mind clear his body feeling like light. He was nothing and everything at once.

In her state, she could feel him approaching. In the vast darkness that was the cool comfort of her home, his aura was like a vibrantly colored fire dancing behind a veil of ice. As he sat across from her and began to meditate, she could see his aura more clearly.
Oddly, having a new person this close to her in a vulnerable state would usually have snapped her out of it. He did not seem threatening in this moment. She lay beneath the blanket, mentally echoing the sound he made. It was peaceful, lulling her into a deeper meditation.
Her tribe-mates used to meditate communally, she noticed with a pang of nostalgia that seemed far away in this particular moment. This very meditation had been something her soul had been missing, ever since her coming of age... when she had returned home to her village burned and her kin gutted in the streets like pigs.
Deeper breaths signaled that she was falling out of the meditative state, as tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. She sat up, the visions fading, dabbing the tears away with the edge of the blanket. When her eyes opened, the irises were glowing a bright peridot. She looked to Syrissin, and then back upstairs as a distorted laugh echoed down the hallway.
The black pocket watch rolled down the stairs, landing on the bottom landing. The baritone laughter resounded from it.

He had sensed Kitty's change in mood once peaceful to saddened. His eyes snapped open at the sound of Dark laughter. The malevolent feel made his skin tingle and his instincts kicked in muttering in an ancient language a spell flared and silenced the sound though the aura remained. He snorted in amusement at the soul within the watch.
"A ranked power level. If he was alive he'd be an amusement at most," Syrissin rumbled softly. "I sense he has a history with you?"

"Yes." Her voice was quiet. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath.
"Where I'm from, my people were known as peace keepers, similar to the hunters here. We maintained the balance and order for the entire land."
She glared at the watch before continuing.
"My people made enemies, but none that we couldn't handle. Every man, woman, and child could use a weapon. We were as tight knit a team as you could ever find, anywhere.
On the day of my coming of age, we were going to celebrate. It was tradition. Custom to welcome the young bloods into the ranks of the seasoned fighters. I went out on a solo hunt to prove my worth. When I returned..."
She paused, the visions assaulting her as though they happened yesterday.
"The village was burning to the ground, my kin gutted and strewn in the streets like garbage. Someone had been watching our patterns. Knew our weak spots. Overwhelmed us with sheer numbers and foul magic."
She paused to regain her composure.
"I came back at the end of the slaughter and fought off as many as I could. I fought with a rage I had never felt. My own magic welled up inside of me. It was the first time I became my other self.
I beat the name of their leader out of one of them, eventually. I spared none of them. He showed his face to taunt me after I had exhausted myself on his henchmen. Even so, I drew blood from him. Like a coward, he fled. I devoted my entire life to hunting his sorry ass down and making him pay for what he had done.
I tracked him here, initially, after years of training. Hunting. I cornered him, fought him. His fire, nor his movement magic saved him from my blades. I watched him die. He became that." She gestured to the watch.
"Even as a trinket, he spites me. The other demons powerful enough to leave behind devil arms, as these people call them, heed my words. They know honor. They respect that I have bested them. He knows no such honor."

Syrissin had to hold back a firestorm of articles rage as he heard her tale. It was all to familiar to him.
"I was born within tower of Temen-ni-Gru. The greater demons there were family. All of them guardians of the tower. Two men rose the tower and I in my excitement left. When I return the tower was all bit destroyed and my family missing. I have leads but..."
Syrissin stopped calmly trailing off.
"This life gets lonely."

Kitty nodded, eyes on the man before her. She watched him a moment before replying.
"I could help you look, if you want." She paused. "We could potentially work together. We could hunt the demons there are contracts for, and look for leads about your family at the same time."
She looked away.
"Much as my closure pains me, I couldn't imagine the pain of my home being destroyed and my kin having vanished with no trace."

Syrissin smiled gently at the honest woman's response. He was surprised at her offer and was grateful for the offer. The Raven haired incubus nodded silently closing his eyes again and began meditating again. He had a friend.

Kitty lay back on the couch as Syrissin fell back into his meditative state. She soon followed, focusing on Crymaerix. In a brief instant, she saw his elements as a devil arm. The first, and most basic, was his teleportation. The second, which she had not been able to sense before, was fire.
She felt the pocket watch glaring at her. He spoke into her mind - rare for him to do.
'So you've seen what I can do. You must be getting stronger, little cat.'
No snide remarks today? That's a change.
'Hardly. You are lucky to have not been in their village that day. The only reason there was a village for you to find was that pest of a clan chieftain. He killed my heavy hitters.'
You still doubt my capability, even after all this?
'You got lucky, furball. I am aeons old. You have been breathing for barely two decades. How you managed what you did still escapes me. It was dumb luck, plain and simple. Nothing deserving of my respect or compassion. No, once I escape this prison, I'll demonstrate that it was folly.'
You're not getting out of that devil arm.
'Hmph. You say that with the same tone that the annoying clan chief used when he told me that I wasn't going to destroy that village...'
She took a deep breath, forcing his presence from her mind. She heard him cackling the entire way out.
