Summer was coming to a close, it was in the air, and the rain. The cars on the street couldn't care less what the weather was, but for this Honda Rebel jolting up onto the curb by the bicycle rack, it might have well been a flood. A small figure jumped off of her bike in the sudden deluge, bolting for the cover of the front entrance before pulling her helmet off. Reika tried to shake the water off of her leather jacket, not that it would make much of a difference for her soaked jeans. Lady luck was not her friend today, but at least she made it to her destination.
Shedding her wet coat she shook a hand through her hair pushing the door open with her elbow. She stepped up to the front desk to sign out a computer. Following the clerk to the computer room, she thanked her stars she had been advised to travel light. Reika found that her bag was apparently not 100% waterproof, so it was good that she hadn't packed her laptop. She thanked the clerk and took a seat, though sitting in wet pants was never fun, at least she had found a free pc in a back corner, away from the prying eyes of passersby.
Abandoning local news articles she dipped into the deep web, checking 'ghost hunter' and conspiracy websites for events that coincided with demonic activity. Sadly she didn't find much. Nearly giving up she found an article with a strange picture. The picture itself was insignificant, two men against a wall looking like they were about to get their tonsil hockey on. It was the look of the taller one, who was looking directly into the camera. And the fact that he barely had legs. They were almost completely transparent, with the rest of his form solid, no wonder it was on a ghost site, but those eyes.
They were without any doubt a demon's eyes, and they felt oddly familiar. When it hit her, Reika jumped up from her seat, it was the pair that had been outside the apartment the night Yamiko disappeared, She knew it. Gathering her things she deleted her history and closed down the computer. It was still storming outside, but what choice did she have, she needed to get this information to someone at least.
Going back out into the weather she didn't dare try to use her phone just yet. She squished her helmet back onto her wet hair and head to find the nearest motel, dry towels and a hot shower, that's all she needed.

He knew it wouldn't be long before they appeared in their city, these hunters, these acquaintances of their property. He could smell it on her, fear, anger, sadness, it led him straight to her, that and a touch of nearness to one of the original owners of their property. This one was only human though, nothing more than a child compared to the twins. Dripping jowls and empty gut begged him to take the hunter, yet logic stepped in reminding the beast that her death would bring them here, and they weren't ready. The black sand skittered in the shadows between the buildings impervious to the rain. He followed her as far as he could while hiding in this form, taking solidity the shadow swept down the alley, his favored form sauntering out of the darkness. It would have been irony if anyone had noticed, the street light playing on the rain bouncing off of him, looking much like a halo. With a sickening grin he watched her taillight vanish into the downpour, it weren't as though he would lose her trail. A Hunter this desperate to find her dear friend, the scent stuck in his nose, and would be her tether. Grin spread into chuckle which gave way to laughter, they would have this one too, soon enough. He ran his tongue over his teeth and lip mid-turn, with the thought of another hunter falling prey to his whims. Walking back to their hideaway headquarters in the shower he ran his hands through his hair he gave a sultry smile to whoever would take it, reveling in their surprise. It was a fruitful night yet, one thing was for certain, they needed to work faster, time had caught up with them.

It was quite the shock, the difference between a cheap motel here, and one back home. There was a covered parking area for motorcycles, with lock posts even! She found herself sitting on a couch in the lobby, a fresh towel around her neck and a hot coffee in one hand. The other hand was occupied with holding her phone to her ear, which had been buried in a safe place and managed to stay dry. She updated the other party on her findings. Of the photo, and what she had seen that night. The rest of the article only suggested that the man had something to do with gang activity all over, Adeline AND Fortuna. She gave them a moment.
"No, I'm staying to dig deeper into this. There must be a connection..... I told you I'm staying....." Reika's leaned back on the couch the male voice on the other line griping away, " look, I understand you're concerned, but if you have such little faith in my ability to take care of-...." the eye roll that accompanied his cutting her off was nearly audible. "Fine, if you're that scared for me then just get your ass up here... Like I said. Look I'll be fine for at least tonight, I'm not going back out in this weather" she listened to his side, he finished just in time for the attendant to comeback with the key for her freshly stocked room.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow" She stood, hanging up the phone to hike her pack up onto her shoulder and follow the employee, who even gave her extra towels. She considered the hot shower if only the soft bed hadn't looked so inviting. She barely got her outermost layers off before she flopped into the cloud of mattress and down comforter, only in her under-shorts and sports bra. They were still damp, but she barely noticed as she sank into the comfort, and into sleep.

The drenched demon didn’t make it far before coming to the conclusion that there was an opportunity to be missed. In other circumstances he would consult his partner before acting. However his partner had not had much as far as input amongst his obsession. Much to the point he often wondered what realm his companion`s mind was in. It was considerably easy to follow the hunter`s remaining scent despite the rain. How foolish these hunters became in their desperation. If she had gone further into town he would have lost her trail completely. He did t have to walk far to find the motel she had settled in. Once inside the scent was fresh again, sweet on the air. He easily found her door, he glanced through the peep hole, the room was dark and still, the door securely locked. As if that was an obstacle for him. With a glance down the hall, the being let go of his human form and slipped under the door like smoke. The demon remained as a shadow, observing the trail of clothing leading from the entry directly to the bed. The mist shifted about the room, taking stock of her weapons, and her alertness. His prey had yet to stir. How would her terror taste? The demo wanted a taste, but how to terrify this hunter, what was she afraid of? The shadow hovered over her sleeping form, a hand reaching down with a feather-light touch to brush his fingers across her cheek

hadows had invaded her thoughts, her dream turned dark. Not that she could remember what she had been dreaming as the feeling pulled her closer and closer to the surface. It was right then, that her phone rang with the familiar sound of an acoustic guitar. She didn't need to see the caller ID to know who was on the other end. Clearing her throat she reached for the device to answer. "Hey Dante... yep that's the address," she confirmed

Refusing to wait a moment longer, a red circle formed under the hunter's feet, launching him into the air. "I'll be there in less than an hour," He had barely finished the sentence when he changed his form to take flight. The rumble of his demonic voice rippling over the line, "stay put, I'm coming." Her voice reassured him, she would wait. Slipping the phone into what would be the coat pocket he sped forward, grateful just this once for the weather. The rain, though it felt more like pinpricks on his face, hid his speeding form. An hour like this, he knew it was a risk, would weaken him, Dante didn't care. He'd make it.
