Less dust, that was the first thing he noticed when he entered the room, then the other hunters present, some yet to arrive. No one had yet to take a seat at the huge round table in the centre, he suspected they were still waiting for the guest of honour. And that was not him. The devil knew if this wasn't a serious issue the order would not have called him in especially, considering some of the destruction they still blamed him for that day. He wasn't two steps in the doorway when his cell phone went off in his pocket, some default jingle. He could nearly feel the daggers flying through the air in his direction as he drew it out and answered the very familiar number.
"Hey, how'd it go? I hear the weather sucks right now," He turned one eighty and went back into the hallway he had entered through, at least it was carpeted so his voice didn't echo so easily. He stopped in his tracks with the information he was given. "Okay, come meet me in Fortuna, here with the other hunters and we'll make-" She cut him off insisting she look into it on her own, "You don't have anyone there to back you up, especially if what you read was correct. Why else would you be calling me." Reika insisted again that she would stay to investigate, "A demon with an established gang is a little over your head." Oh the audacity, her accusing him of having no faith in her he clenched his teeth, "Look, I never said I didn't think you could protect yourself, Only that you have no backup. Murphey's law dammit, practice what you preach." He turned to look back down the hall to the room he was meant to be joining the others in.
"I'd be there in an hour if I could, I have to be here for this. I don't trust the situation, something feels off." Glancing around, he hoped no one heard the genuine sincerity dripping from his voice. Along with the slight sound of relief when she at least promised not to go out that night. "Fine, Lock up tight, keep something under your pillow and I'll be there before dawn."
Hanging up the phone he shook his head at her stubbornness, she was going to give him high blood pressure she kept this drama up. Finally with the closest to a look of apology, he rejoined the chamber scratching the back of his head. All he hoped was that this meeting didn't take until dawn, truly something had his hackles raised. He refused to lose another friend due to negligence, no one was home with Yamiko that night, and now Reika was alone in a motel room an hour's travel away, and that was at his fastest.

She hadn't expected a summons to an official hunter get-together, not since the night at the Italia 'n' Ice Cream a few weeks back. She hadn't been brave enough to show her face for any of the bidding nights since her cover slipped and her secret was out. The other hunters gave her sideways glances as she walked in. Seeing Dante there, she about froze. Before he turned to see her, she made her way as far to the back of the room as she could.
She tried to ignore the glares radiating mistrust from the other hunters. She kept an eye out for any sudden movements, but with Dante here she didn't think anyone would try anything at least. Her eyes fell to the table in the middle of the room, and then the door.

Right behind the little feline, the elder demon entered. Wearing a silk shirt of dark indigo, black boots and jeans, he moved quietly to stand beside his son, a pleasant smile upon his face until the content of the phone call drew his attention. Father tapped son on the shoulder, leaning in to speak quietly.
"Is everything all right, Dante?"

As he entered he noted the looks but ignored them his usually shaded eyes uncovered, allowing the frosty embers behind his garnet eyes to sweep around. He saw a few stiffen but none made a move to attack. Good he had bigger fish to fry. It was a suprise to be summoned, which immediately sent the demons mind into over drive. Why would they need him? Or Kitty? Seeing Dante he realized this was big. All these hunters gathered. All of them with decent reputation, from what he had gathered. In fact from what he knew two or three of them have confirmed B class kills. And Dante and his father were above and beyond. Was Mundus himself invading? Whatever it is it was cause for concern.

A clipboard-toting bully is what he felt reduced to as he went through the list in front of him as he walked, doling out instructions according to it. Most were unaware that he was just visually the one in charge, perhaps someday he would introduce the real mastermind that held The Order together. At long last, the talk list was clear, it was timed well as he entered the meeting hall. He was glad to be greeted by both new and familiar faces.
He halted hard, staring at one face that was both strange and familiar. He looked from Dante to the other man, and back again.
"Dante, Who the hell is this?!" He would have been embarrassed at how taken aback he sounded, if there weren't much bigger fish to fry. He'd just have to make up for it later, with a quarrel of wits with his old friend.

Acknowledging the others that entered, he nodded preparing to answer his father when the guest of honor finally arrived. Pushing from the wall he stepped forward to meet the younger devil.
"I don't know yet, and won't know until I have more information. I'll have to explain later, it's something everyone needs to hear anyway." looking away from Sparda, he chuckled at Nero's confusion as he walked beside him he gestured to his father, "This, this is something we should probably talk about in private, just know that he's family." with a pat on the boy's shoulder he turned from the pair. Walking up to the large round table he pulled out a chair and plopped in the seat, arms crossed over his chest, feet propped on the ornate furniture. "Can we get this rolling I have places to be."

With s shake of his head and a roll of the eye when Dante brushed past, the younger devil shrugged it off calling for everyone to have a seat. He introduced all of the new faces to eachother, calling out hunters that were first on scene to some of the massacres, others that were high class hunters with experience in these deadly hunts, and Kitty who was here because she came with a recommendation from a reputable source. Of course, everyone knew who Dante was.
"We are here because this is a sensitive matter." Nero himself took a seat at the table, across from Dante, "Seasoned hunters have lost their lives trying to hunt this menace. We don't know much, we know that the demon causes a psychological break in its victims, incapacitates them with fear, and then feeds on the adrenaline drenched, blood-rich organs. As far as what this being looks like, no one knows, or even exactly what kind of demon it is." He paused a moment to slide papers across to everyone, brief summaries of the coroner's and police reports.
"civilian officials at first thought this to be gang related killings, perhaps the fear being drug induced and the organs sold." folding his hands before him, elbows on the table, he was unashamed these days of his demonic hand, even in present company. His expression sank, "If it were only that simple. By the reports, yes the cuts were quite clean, however they were made by something organic, that left behind this strange black residue." He looked down at one of the photos on the page before him with a heavy sigh.
"We cannot afford any more loss of life. That is why you all are here, as well as myself. We are the best there is. We are the ones who keep the demon realm at bay." He glanced across to his friend, "Even if some are not willing to claim such a lofty position. We are." Sitting still was difficult, a nervousness in his legs lifted him from his chair, demanding movement. He was sure that there was something missing, another reason he had called this gathering. Someone else was bound to have more information, something someone missed. He looked around at those present, his eyes lingering on the man that had joined Dante. There was something about him, a familiarity that sank into his bones, as though he should know the man, not that the face helped. He and Dante, though the similarities were uncanny, he was not his twin, Nero at least knew that.
"Any one have any other details, even the smallest clue could help us," He finally stopped pacing, grasping onto the back f the chair he had been sitting in, he scanned again, waiting, hoping.

Syrissin quirked an eyebrow as he listened thinking back on the various types of demons Nevan and the books in Temen-Ni-Gru's library had mentioned in his time there.
"The psychological attack and fear inducing sound like trade mark shadow demons, however the fact they've been harvesting organs sounds like a hybrid," Syrissin noted softly.
"I could be wrong, it could be multiple demons of various types working together. I'm afraid that's all I can give based of the basic information you've been able to get a hold of. It's not a lot to go on."
Syrissin sounded apologetic, which he was, he might not be human but he respected the race and it frustrated sightly that he had less information to give.

"A shadow demon or a hybrid, eh?" Sparda shifted in his chair. "There was a creature like that in possession of Yamato, and a slew of other weapons, in this very building not long ago. He found himself outmatched against Dante and I, although I don't believe he recognized that fact at first."
The elder devil's voice was calm, thoughtful, and measured, softer than Dante's but with an equal measure of fortitude. He looked to the others present for any response to his words, or any further lines of questioning.

Eyes glued to a spot on the table, he waited for the others to speak. The idea of it being a shadow demon went right along with what information Reika had given him. He took a glance around the room before putting his feet down and leaning forward on the table, hands folded before him. “Tall dark and brooding over there may be right.” He made eye contact with Nero, the first time since he had sat down, his scowl deepened, looking over as his father spoke. “That's right," he pulled his cell phone from his coat pocket, "Reika is in Adeline doing her own research. Came across this image,” he pulled up the photo of the web page that Reika had sent him when she had called, flashing it to Nero before passing the phone to his father, “do either of them look like the demon we encountered?” While Sparda examined the photo, Dante continued, “it may turn out that all of this ties in together. A few months ago, a young girl, some of you know of her, Yamiko.” He sat back and crossed his arms over his chest, “She is no ordinary girl, but a kind of living devil arm created in the very labs below us from fragments of the broken Yamato.” He glanced between his nephew and father, “Vergil bonded with her, but then left on whatever quest, and left the girl in Reika’s care. According to her, those two in the photo were outside the apartment building hours before Yamiko’s disappearance.” The hair on the back of his neck was standing on end, he could feel his eyes keep dilating, as though something in him knew there was a fight around the corner. If those demons had been following Yamiko, how much of their lives had been observed?

Kitty sat quietly, observing and listening intently. A slight frown affixed itself to her face as the others spoke of the similar encounters. She didn't have anything to add, and that bothered her slightly.
Hearing that Reika was investigating alone caused a feeling of apprehension to sit in her stomach like a lead ball, a sense of dread creeping through her frame like icy roots. The feline tried pushing the sensations out of her mind, and breaking eye contact with Dante and staring a hole into the center of the tabletop instead.
Something didn't feel right about any of this, but she couldn't quite place it. It was on the tip of her tongue, but without being able to properly quantify her feelings, she did not want to interrupt the higher ranked hunters during their more serious discussion. Besides, who was she to question Reika's abilities, or the decision to let her investigate a lead on her own?
Perhaps you should speak, Golem whispered. It is only natural for a predator to go after the lonely straggler, rather than attack the herd, conveniently preoccupied and unable to aid the lonely straggler...
Her eyes opened wide and she looked to Dante with more than a little alarm in her expression.

Dark eyebrows contrasting aginst his white mop of hair nearly came together on his forehead as he listened to the older devil speak. Curious he made his way around the table to look over the shoulder of Dante's companion, intriqued by the photo. After a moment though he looked back to Dante, a very questioning look on his face.
"And you let her stay there alone? If she is right and the events are connected they more than likely know who she is. With her connection to EVERY ranked hunter in the area. And if they do have a gang affiliation as was suggested im sure they knew as soon as she got to town." He stood up straight a glare bearing down on the imbicil, "what the hell are you still doing here?!" He was one who knew full well the strong friendship between the two, and also knew how it felt to have your care for someone turned as a weapon against you. His arm's glow grew brighter, reflecting in his eyes, a silent threat against a man he thought better of.

Syrissin was flabbergasted at Dante. One everyone int he business knew Reika was the source for jobs outside of the Order. And he let's her go to ground zero against something that had taken sown known and talented hunters.
"I hate to be an ass and agree with the glow stick Red, but that move seeems a bit thoughtless on both parts. If we need to get her and this living devil arm we need to go now. I'll join up, I inherited some very keen senses from my father's side. I could probably help track either woman down." Syrissin offered calmly but a sense of electric urgency tingled down his neck. His instincts were haywire. Something was not right.

Kitty had withdrawn a pocket watch from the pocket of her jeans. Holding it in between her claws, a large violet sphere materialized before Dante. Kitty winced as the image of the fountain in downtown Adeline took shape, everything with a lavender hue. The pocket watch coursed with orange energy, which made Kitty wince every time it touched her skin.
"Crymaerix isn't cooperating very well today." The feline spoke through clenched teeth. "However, Dante, I can at least give you a head start. If I can get Cry to cooperate a little better, we'll be right behind you."

With each comment his scowl deepened. He had stayed for this pep rally to try to help, and they were on his shit for it. He hadnt wanted to leave her there alone. It was never his plan, and yet... Figures. Without a word the devil nodded to kitty and snatched his phone back from his father. He turned to look at the group before stepping through the portal.
"Oh, and nephew," Dante made full eye contact with Nero, as he vanished, "You and your grandfather have catching up to do."
He left them with silence after the comment. Stumbling out of the passage now on the dark quiet streets of Adel inexpensive he pulled out his phone to call Reika, heading towards the address she had given him.
